halt – a magazine rack with adaptability
In my furniture class at the University of Alberta in Canada, I had to work with metal to design a home accessories. I chose stainless steel sheets that are bended and formed to hold magazines and books in different ways. Based on the user‘s needs, it can hold magazines and it can be turned around for extra table space.
The angular sides are designed to bookmark pages and give the user the opportunity to read where it was left off. To prevent the magazines from sliding on the smooth metal surface, a support was attached to the bottom. It was made out of wood and painted black to match the minimalistic look of the magazine rack and to highlight the function in an unobtrusive way.
